Turkana Community Foundation  Services

Our services are varied across the community and are based both at ground level and online. We believe education, spreading awareness, raising funds and working directly with the community COMBINED with attracting a global online audience to help spread the word of our individual plight.

 

  • We run educational events to help the public understand about the issues facing the Turkana Community

  • We lobby government and social organisations to help gain understanding and stop the spread of negative myths and misconceptions.

  • In line with the organization goal, we are implementing programs namely Nurturing, Entrepreneurship and Women Empowerment program. Importantly, for this project to benefit the local people, skilled volunteers and resources are required thus we wish to kindly appeal you join our team to effectively implement our projects.

  • We run fundraising events for different sections of the community to help break the cycle of poverty.

  • We interact and campaign via our online platforms and international connections for Awareness about the Turkana Community: to help others understand our issues plus gain global support.

We also think it is important to help in an integrated approach to improving the lives of people from the Turkana Community. Despite there being many challenges with farming and a nomadic based lifestyle we think it is important that this culture - several centuries old - is respected and valued. We strongly believe that working WITH the community to help integrate them better into society is far better than to work FOR the community to force changes.

Sam .K  is the Project Manager  of Turkana Community Foundation.

He was born and raised in Kajiado, and partly in Kakamega- Kenya. He holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration (Finance option) & Sociology from Kenyatta University and diploma in Project Management from the Kenya Institute of Project Management. Have worked in the non -governmental sector in various departments for local, national & international NGOs. In charge of projects designing, fundraising and networking.
